Department of Security & Crime Science
The UCL Department of Security and Crime Science is dedicated to equipping current and future professionals working in the crime and security field with the knowledge and skills they will need to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Our teaching programmes are based around the need to develop sophisticated analytical techniques and evidence based strategies to understand, detect and counter crime and security vulnerabilities. We are committed to bringing disciplines together and having real world impact.
The Department of Security and Crime Science conducts its research through the Jill Dando Institute, the first institute in the world devoted to crime science. Research is conducted across several institutes and research groups focussing on new ways to cut crime and increase security, drawing upon UCL's vast experience in related disciplines, including architecture, economics, engineering, geography, medicine, psychology, statistics and town planning.
