This page includes testimonials gathered from UCL students from Thailand.
Having been studying here for months, I have become more competent in problem solving skills and communication skills. The time flew so fast from the beginning of my study until the deadline of my dissertation. However, I had tons of UCL stories to pass down to later students. Having opportunities to hang out with people, my tiny circle was filled up with new pals who are from different majors and countries.
Also, I got new insights from them which is beneficial and practical for my academic and personal aspect. Then, I realised that I was just a big fish in a small pond in my country since I met countless smart people from all walks of life here at UCL.

Hi, my name is Parisa, and I’m from Thailand. I’m currently pursuing my master's in Urban Development Planning at The Bartlett School.
This is my first year in the UK, and every moment has been an incredible adventure. Being a student at UCL has made my time here even more special. UCL offers a vibrant and inclusive community where there's always something exciting to do. From joining one of the many clubs to participating in the diverse range of activities available, I've found countless opportunities to connect with new people and explore my interests.
One of the things I appreciate most about UCL is its strong support system. Whether it’s academic guidance or mental health support, there’s always someone ready to help. The university is genuinely proactive about student well-being, making sure that we have all the resources we need to thrive.
I also love the central London location of UCL. Being in the heart of the city means there are endless places to explore and enjoy after class. Whether it’s visiting museums, relaxing in beautiful parks, or discovering cozy cafes, London offers the perfect backdrop to my studies.
The academic experience at The Bartlett School has been equally rewarding. The faculty are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and the curriculum is both challenging and inspiring. I’ve had the chance to work on projects that not only deepen my understanding of urban development but also allow me to apply my learning in real-world contexts.
Overall, studying at UCL has been a transformative experience. It’s not just about the education; it’s about the people you meet, the experiences you share, and the memories you create. I’m so grateful to be a part of this community and excited to see what the rest of my time here will bring.

Hello, I’m Earth, a Thai government scholarship student sponsored by Bangkok Commercial Asset Management PCL (BAM). I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Real Estate Economics and Investment Analysis (REEIA) at the Faculty of the Built Environment at UCL.
The REEIA program, part of the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, stands out for its unique emphasis on data analysis and corporate financial management. This focus has enabled me to effectively integrate my background in engineering, construction, and investment. I am especially grateful to Professor Yolande Barnes, who has been instrumental in helping me discover and develop my niche in combining real estate with sustainable energy.
Beyond the program's multidisciplinary nature and the faculty's expertise, UCL offers a distinct advantage through its diversity, innovative flipped classroom model (centered on discussions and seminars), and prime location in central London. These elements have broadened my perspective and enriched my learning experience through interactions with peers and professionals from over 25 different countries.
Since arriving in London, I’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively both within the EU and beyond and to meet many fascinating people. The communication and critical thinking skills I’ve developed at UCL have been invaluable in building a global network and fostering connections across diverse cultures. Choosing to study at UCL at the age of 27 has been one of the best decisions of my life. The skills, experiences, and networks I have gained here will be invaluable as I continue to build my career in real estate and sustainable development.

Hi, I am Maimai, currently pursuing my MSc in Environmental Design and Engineering at UCL.
The teaching here is a refreshing change from my past experiences, as it actively encourages discussions. I am impressed by the diverse and effective teaching styles of the professors. The lessons are intensive, interconnected, and focused on real-world applications. I find myself eagerly attending every lecture because I truly enjoy them. The group work has broadened my perspectives by allowing me to collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds on practical projects.
The supportive environment at UCL is fantastic. Professors are approachable and encourage questions, often assuring us that “There is no stupid question,” which has sparked my curiosity and deepened my understanding.
In addition to academic support, UCL’s resources have been very helpful. The teaching programme administrator has provided excellent assistance. I also have had positive experiences consulting with the UCL Immigration Team and UCL Careers. Whether it is visa concerns or job applications, they have always provided great support and valuable advice.
Being in central London, UCL is in a convenient location with easy transportation and many international restaurants nearby, making my life here comfortable and enjoyable.

However, my experience at UCL has far surpassed all my expectations for my first year. One of the aspects I appreciate most about my course is its diversity. With students taking different specialisms and languages, it creates an enriching and intellectually stimulating community. The wide range of options allowed me to attend lectures from several professors, each of whom is a leader in their respective discipline. This made for truly engaging and thought-provoking lectures, seminars, and coursework, which not only deepened my understanding of international affairs and law but also ignited my curiosity and drive to explore more on my own.
At the same time, the supportive and dynamic environment here empowered me to embrace new experiences, whether it was trying salsa dancing for the first time, learning how to sculpt a head with clay, becoming a Student Ambassador, or doing yoga between lectures – there is something for everyone, the opportunities are endless! The diversity at UCL is truly amazing, with people from all walks of life who are deeply passionate about what they do.
Time has truly flown by, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds as I continue my journey at UCL!
