I earned my Master’s degree in Specialised Translation with Interpreting from UCL in 2020, and I had a great time there. CenTraS’s teaching staff masterfully introduced me to red-hot topics and technologies in translation and interpreting, preparing me to work as a qualified translator, subtitler, and localiser. Also, I benefited a lot from my MSc supervisor’s academic support, especially paving the way to discovering my research avenues and potential in audiovisual translation, which have laid a solid foundation for my PhD studies.

I am Tingyan Wang, currently pursuing an MA in Translation and Culture in UCL. The experience of studying here ensures me that there is no better place to ... ...get lectures from those whose names have been cited thousands of times. ...befriend brilliant peers of like (or totally different!) mind over knitting or making bubble tea in our 400+ clubs. …visit the places where Sherlock Holmes, George Orwell, or Fleabag once lived. ...enjoy the world’s top exhibitions, musicals, and concerts with a lovely student discount. ...challenge my taste bud with dishes from every corner of the world even within our own refectory. All in all, UCL and London will never disappoint you if you are eager to embrace a world full of opportunities and possibilities.

Zhen Qu student
I love dancing and singing. I’m also lucky to be a big fan of musicals as London is the best place to enjoy them. UCL creates a truly open and diverse community that is inclusive for everybody. You can always find something for you from the hundreds of student societies and clubs. Having professors who are authors of the most leading-edge scientific books and research papers for Earth Sciences is also just exciting and empowering, which makes me appreciate so much more of what I learn on a daily basis.

Jojo Zhou student
Hello everyone, this is Jojo Zhou! I graduated from UCL with BSc Economics in 2016. Currently I am working in the field of digital marketing at Google China. It is hard to express how I missed London as there were always so many opportunities for me to explore and take challenges on. UCL is truly an international community where I get the chance to connect with people from cultural backgrounds different from my own. I learned to respect each other meanwhile was encouraged to get my own voice heard. I learned to think critically and logically but at the same time, show empathy to people around. I learned to take initiatives based on my own analysis and judgement while keep curiosity to new pieces emerging.
