Please read the following application process guidelines carefully if you are considering applying to study one of our teacher training programmes.
Before applying, please ensure that you check the relevant programme page in the Teacher Training section of the online prospectus for specific application requirements and deadlines.
University-led PGCE Primary and PGCE Secondary
Applications for PGCE Primary and Secondary programmes are made via UCAS. Full details of how to complete an application are provided on the UCAS website, where you can also find a useful video guide on how to complete the application form. When applying for one of our programmes search ‘UCL’ in the choices section of your UCAS application, or enter the training provider code U80.
The application cycle opens in October each year and applications are considered on a rolling basis, therefore you are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Once your application has been received it will be forwarded to UCL for consideration.
School Direct (Salaried) and School Direct (Tuition Fee)
For School Direct (Salaried) and School Direct (Tuition Fee), you should add your choice of partner school, route and subject (if applicable) to your UCAS form. UCAS allows you to search for School Direct options and you can find more detailed information on the relevant school website. If you want to find all School Direct options linked to UCL, search for “UCL” within the training provider field. Other fields allow you to refine your search. Your UCAS School Direct application will be considered by your chosen school(s) who will make referrals to UCL if they wish to proceed with your application.
Early Years and Post-Compulsory Teacher Training
Applications for our Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT), Post-Compulsory PGCE and iPGCE programmes are made directly to UCL. The application cycle opens in October each year and applications are considered on a rolling basis, therefore you are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applicants who are successful at the shortlist stage will be invited to attend an interview.
