Electronic and Electrical Engineering
The department houses world-class facilities including an anechoic chamber, molecular beam epitaxy and laboratories for high-speed measurement, converged networks and systems, nanotechnology and broadband teaching. Our ethos of constant development and innovation continues a tradition inspired by Professor Sir Ambrose Fleming, inventor of the thermionic valve and founder of the discipline of electronics.
The department is a major contributor to the London Centre for Nanotechnology, a joint venture between UCL and Imperial College London. We maintain strong industrial links in all our postgraduate activities and much of our research is funded through the UK Research Councils, the EU and industry in the UK and overseas.
