Surgery and Interventional Science
The division compasses three research themes: Tissue and Energy, Nanotechnology, and Materials and Tissue. Our aim is to understand the causes of human disease and develop innovative therapies and technologies to improve the quality of life. We have over 30 world-class research centres specialising in sports medicine, tissue repair, regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, oncology, stem cells, biomedical engineering and laser medicine. Within the division we have both clinical and non-clinical expertise and we integrate basic, translational and clinical research through cross-disciplinary collaborations both within and outside of UCL. We consider research and teaching of equal importance and foster a culture of synergy, where pioneering research informs the provision of teaching.
