Entry requirements

A good undergraduate degree from a recognised university normally a minimum of UK Second Class Honours (Upper Division – 2:1). Applicants with a 2:2 may be considered if they have at least three years’ relevant work experience.

The English language level for this course is: Level 2

UCL Pre-Master's and Pre-sessional English courses are for international students who are aiming to study for a postgraduate degree at UCL. The courses will develop your academic English and academic skills required to succeed at postgraduate level.

Teaching and learning

Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on Moodle gives you access to a range of engaging learning content, from study materials to revision guides, and forums to connect with your tutors and fellow students, allowing you to engage in self-reflective and collaborative experiences.  

This programme is delivered through 10-week modules comprising an interactive mix of online videos, digital readings, problem-based learning challenges, case studies, quizzes, forum peer discussions, presentations, team-based activities, and weekly online live seminars.  

Teaching and learning are assessed throughout the programme, with a variety of assessment methods, drawn from individual/group presentations, individual and group coursework, video presentations, mini-projects, essays, and online problem-solving tests, and the Strategic Financial Project.  

You can expect 3 equivalent contact hours for each 15-credit module per teaching week, typically meaning between 6-12 contact hours a week. This varies by module and term. The equivalent contact hours comprise of up to 90 minutes of video content and 90 minutes live online seminars. We expect you to complement this with between 6-12 hours of guided independent study per week.

Modules

The programme is run in a structured framework consisting of 10 (15 credit) compulsory modules, followed by a double-weighted (30 credit) project. There are no optional modules on this programme.
 

On the full-time programme, you will typically study four prescribed modules in each of Terms 1 and 2, two prescribed modules in Term 3 along with research methods for the strategic financial project, and then continue working on that project over the summer period for submission at the end of September. 

The programme is run in a structured framework consisting of 10 (15 credit) compulsory modules and a double-weighted (30 credit) project, over two years. There are no optional modules on this programme.

In your first year of the Part-time study mode, you will complete up to 30 credits (two modules) in each of Terms 1, 2 and 3 in a prescribed order. In your second year of study, you will continue with two prescribed modules in Terms 1 and 2, then in Term 3 you will study research methods for the strategic financial project, and then continue working on that project over the summer period for submission at the end of September.

If you wish to attend non-credit bearing immersions or in-person extracurricular activities/events are responsible for all travel, accommodation and spending fees associated. Please note these activities are optional, so you are not required to attend.

Scholarships are available through UCL for all years of study. Competition for scholarships is fierce, however, and to stand a chance of being chosen you will need to show evidence of commitment and the potential for high achievement.
