Entry requirements

A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor’s degree or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Applicants must have a strong analytical appetite and aptitude for quantitative analysis, and can come with a variety of degrees including but not limited to management, economics, statistics, all areas of engineering, computer science, psychology and other physical or social sciences.

The English language level for this programme is: Level 2

As a Marketing Science MSc graduate, you will be able to analyse market trends and consumer behaviour to develop strategic insights and execute effective marketing strategies, create and manage digital marketing campaigns across various platforms, and evaluate brand performance and implement strategies to enhance brand value. You will be able to leverage AI technologies to optimise marketing processes and outcomes, gather and analyse massive customer data to improve product offerings and customer experience, and optimise online sales strategies and enhance the digital customer journey. 

Employability

This programme was developed in collaboration with industry, meaning that you'll acquire the skills to embark on successful careers in organisations ranging from media and advertising, consumer products, retailing, technology and financial services. Potential roles include marketing analyst, brand analyst, business intelligence analyst, product or brand manager, consumer insights analyst, digital campaign analyst, advertising manager, social media analyst, web analytics manager, pricing analyst, and more.

This programme provides you with careers coaching and guidance from the School of Management's in-house Careers team, including 1:1s and group workshops. You'll also benefit from connections with employers and alumni both in the UK and globally via bespoke employer event programmes. 

Through a spectrum of networking and employer events, we help students engage with accomplished alumni and industry experts. These interactions provide invaluable insights, mentorship opportunities, and potential career pathways for our students. In addition, our recently established Alumni Advisory Council is working to enhance all aspects of the School of Management Alumni experience. 

Teaching and learning

The programme will be delivered through a combination of lectures, workshops, class discussions based on case studies, practical sessions, and group projects. 

Assessment is through a combination of examinations, individual and group coursework, individual and group projects, presentations, and a group capstone project.

Each taught module will typically be delivered over 10 teaching weeks, with 3 contact hours per week. This means you can expect approximately 10-12 contact hours per teaching week, on average. The total number of weekly contact hours may vary according to the module demand and weekly activities undertaken.

Students are also expected to spend approximately 7-12 hours each week in non-contact hours on independent study, assessment preparation, e-learning, and exam revision.

Modules

You will take 4 compulsory taught modules in Term 1. In Term 2, you will take 3 compulsory modules and 1 optional taught module, (choosing from 3 bespoke modules).

Finally, in Term 3, you will take the business project with 1 optional taught module, (choosing from 2 bespoke modules).

All taught modules are 15 credits, and the business project in Term 3 will be 45 credits. The business project will put you into groups under the supervision of a faculty member to work with real-world external organisations. You will be assessed on both individual and group components.

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. Upon successful completion of 180 credits, you will be awarded a in Marketing Science.

This programme may include opportunities for students to undertake optional international study trips. The costs of such trips are usually met by students, although some elements may be subsidised or grants available depending on the destination, organisational, and support responsibilities.

 On average, costs would be around £1,500 to £2,500 depending on the trip location, personal flight preferences and spending habits as well as the prevailing exchange rates.
