All graduate students automatically become members of the Postgraduate Association of Students' Union UCL. The Union offers various facilities including social facilities, sports facilities and more.
The Union, run by elected officers, provides a focus for student activity and a voice for student views. The Union's student officers provide important input into UCL committees, to shape the way UCL is run.
Sports and exercise facilities
The Somers Town Community Sports Centre is a short walk from the Bloomsbury campus. A variety of indoor sports are catered for including basketball, badminton, netball, football, volleyball, table tennis, short tennis and trampolining as well as fitness classes.
UCLU Sports Clubs offer many different activities, including all those you might expect, such as football, tennis, hockey, athletics and nine different martial arts. There is also an array of clubs which have access to specialised facilities: rowing, horse riding, mountainteering and ice skating, for example.
The UCLU Elite Athlete Programme is designed to aid gifted and talented athletes to continue competing at the highest level while studying at UCL.
Competitive fixtures for team sports are held at UCL's outdoor pitches and courts in Shenley, Hertfordshire. With provision for rugby, football, netball, lacrosse and cricket. There is a free bus service on match days.
Clubs and societies
In addition to the sporting clubs mentioned above, UCLU also runs over 200 societies which are open to graduate and undergraduate students alike covering politics, culture, the arts, religion, performance and campaigns.
Many of our students are keen to employ their talents to contribute towards the benefit of others in the community. UCLU's Volunteering Services Unit co-ordinates opportunities to volunteer time and effort to a hugh range of activities, either on an ongoing basis or one-off basis.
Rights and Advice Centre
The UCLU Rights and Advice Centre is staffed by trained advisors and offers comprehensive information and advice on a wide range of issues including financial, legal and personal matters.
UCLU's JobShop maintains a database of part-time, short-term or casual work. Vacancies are available in a wide range of job roles with recruiters who are local to UCL or who are based on campus.
