What you need to complete the application

There are a number elements required to complete your application and it will not be processed until you have provided everything. Follow the links below to find out more.

2. Application fee

Application fees are not applicable to research programmes. If a fee is required, your application will not be submitted to UCL before the fee is paid.

3. English language requirements

Proof of English proficiency is not required at the application stage. Please visit the English language requirements page of the Graduate Prospectus for full details.

4. Personal statement

There is a section in the application form for you to enter a personal statement (3,000 character limit, including spaces) or attach a statement as a separate document.

5. References

Your application must be supported by two academic references.

6. Research proposal (PhD)

Candidates for research-based programmes (MPhil/PhD, MRes, EngD) are required to make contact with potential supervisors before they apply, except in the Engineering Sciences faculty.

Please be aware that the Graduate Admissions Office is unable to return hard copy documents to applicants. Please ensure that you do not provide any documents that cannot be replaced.
