Academic entry requirements
Entry requirements vary. Search for your programme using the links below.
- Taught programmes (MA, MSc, LLM, etc.)
- Research programmes (MPhil/PhD, Doctorate)
- Teacher training programmes
Entry requirements and equivalent international qualifications can be found in the Key Information box on each degree page.
English language requirements
If your first language is not English you must be able to provide evidence that your spoken and written English is good enough for the programmes that you want to apply for.
The required level is indicated in the Key Information section of programme listing (see links above).
You can submit an application to UCL before you take an English test. Any offer we make to you would be conditional, subject to you passing a recognised test of English Language.
Applicants who require a visa to study in the UK are advised to check, prior to applying, that their chosen mode of attendance is permitted.
Tier 4 Student visa holders are permitted to study on a full-time basis only. See UK Government website for further information.
Please note that students can’t be registered for a programme at UCL at the same time as being registered (or re-sitting examinations) for another programme at UCL or any other Higher Education Institution.
