Step 6: Applying for student funding

Once you have made your decision to accept your offer you may wish to start to look for student funding, if you require it.

Graduate Taught

UK and EU students are eligible to apply for a Postgraduate Taught Loan and further information can be found on the Scholarships and Funding website.  UCL offers a number of scholarships and bursaries for both UK/EU students and International students.  Find out more about them using our scholarship finder.


Graduate Research

UK and EU students are eligible to apply for a Doctoral Funding Loan and further information can be found on the Scholarships and Funding website. It is important that you start your application as soon as possible.   Find out more about them using our scholarship finder.  There are also a number of studentships available for research study and further information can be found on the Studentships website.  Not all studentships are listed on the website and students are advised to directly contact academic departments and research groups to enquire about possible other funding opportunities.

For both the Postgraduate Taught Loan and Doctoral Funding loan it is important that you start your application as soon as possible.


PGCE Primary, Secondary and Post Compulsory

UK and EU students undertaking Full-time and part-time studies on PGCE Primary, Secondary and Post Compulsory are eligible to apply for both a Student Loan and Maintenance Loan. Students may also be eligible to receive a training bursary or scholarship for living costs. The amount depends on your PGCE subject and your degree classification or highest relevant academic qualification.
