On 3 July 2025, the Government published the 10 Year Health Plan for England.
Professor Nora Colton, Director of UCL’s Global Business School for Health, commented:
“From how tech and AI will be deployed to how patients access their care, this is the biggest shakeup of the NHS in a generation. I work with health departments all around the world, and this is the most comprehensive set of health reforms a Government has made in response to the opportunities opened up by the AI revolution in particular.
“But for these proposals to actually be delivered, the NHS needs to keep investing in bringing in the best and brightest into leadership and management roles.
“At UCL’s Global Business School for Health we remain committed to the future of healthcare education. That is why, I am pleased to see the Government’s commitment to work with the NHS to put in place a new Management and Leadership Framework and a new College of Executive and Clinical Leadership.
“It is vital that the momentum and recommendations are not undercut by failing to value managers. They are the key to making sure everything from the smallest GP practices to the largest University Teaching Hospitals, such as our very own UCLH, embed these reforms and transform the experience of patients.”
