Professor Shahmanesh brings a wealth of experience from her role as Professor of Global Health at the Institute for Global Health and Director of Science at the Africa Health Research Institute, where she has led pioneering work in health equity and interdisciplinary research in biosocial HIV prevention.
Her appointment marks an exciting step forward in our faculty’s commitment to excellence in research, education, and impact. Maryam is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine and is a NIHR Global Research Professor.

Professor Shahmanesh said:

Professor Shahmanesh will begin her role in November. She will work closely with the interim dean over the coming years to take forward strategic initiatives and strengthen our academic community.
