UCL has ranked 4th in the world and second in Europe for Public Health in the 2025 ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).
Around 2,000 universities across 100 countries and regions are listed in the rankings, which highlight global excellence in teaching and research.
Since 2017, UCL has placed in the world’s top 10 institutions in this field, reflecting a deep commitment to tackling major health challenges through world-class research and education.
Professor Ibrahim Abubakar, Dean of the Faculty of Population Health Sciences, said:

These global rankings evaluate world universities across 57 subjects. The results are based on nine indicators, including research quality, impact and output, as well as international collaboration, and academic recognition.
ShanghaiRanking has been publishing the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by academic subjects since 2009 and is considered one of the leading international league tables.
