September 2025 is the final opportunity for people working in healthcare across the UK to use Apprenticeship Levy funding to pay for a Level 7 Senior Leadership in Health Apprenticeship at UCL’s Global Business School for Health.
With the Government announcing that Level 7 Apprenticeships will no longer be funded from 2026 onwards, UCL’s Global Business School for Health is launching its final round of training for senior managers working in healthcare.
The Level 7 Senior Leadership in Health Apprenticeship, which is a two-year course for people with more than five years' experience working in healthcare, is aimed at senior managers in NHS Trusts, working across Integrated Care Boards, or in leadership roles within private healthcare.
People taking part in the apprenticeship continue in their current job, but undergo training in areas as diverse as finance and funding in healthcare, developing executive leadership skills, healthcare strategy, people and marketing, and an overseas trip to study a global healthcare system.
Final applications for the course have to be made by late September, and organisations interested in using their Apprenticeship Levy to pay for staff to take part in the course can contact mbahealthgbsh@ucl.ac.uk for further details.
Professor Nora Colton, Director of UCL’S Global Business School for Health, said: “Whether you’re a senior clinician, an NHS manager, or working across private healthcare, this is the last opportunity you have to use your organisation’s Apprenticeship Levy funding to pay for a Senior Leadership in Health Apprenticeship.
“As the Government scales back its support next year for Level 7 Apprenticeships, we’re thrilled we will have one more cohort of healthcare professionals studying this apprenticeship with us alongside their jobs.
“Over recent years, this course has allowed incredible NHS managers to increase their skills, progress through the ranks, and prepare themselves to oversee ever more complex parts of their organisation.
“As healthcare in the UK goes through yet another period of significant change and reform, making sure managers and leaders have the right training and development couldn’t be more important, and this apprenticeship is a key way to prepare staff for the changes that are coming.”
