As a Research Manager at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, United Kingdom, Andrews Asante’s professional journey has been deeply rooted in advancing equitable access to healthcare innovations, especially in low and middle-income countries.
Enrolling on the DBA Health programme at UCL Global Business School for Health has empowered Asante to explore how transformative pilot healthcare solutions, ranging from digital tools to advanced therapeutics, can be successfully scaled and integrated within national health systems to address health inequities sustainably.
Currently in his first year, he serves as the Research Student Representative for DBA Health Cohort 2 and contributes to institutional development through his membership in UCL’s Education and Student Lifecycle Portfolios Advisory Group.
Asante is also part of the founding team behind the UCL DBA Collective, a student-led initiative designed to foster peer support and academic growth across the programme.
When reflecting on why he chose to pursue our professional doctorate degree, he remarked:
"What sets this DBA apart is the combination of world-class academic mentorship and a practice-oriented approach that empowers leaders to turn ideas into real-world impact. So far, the DBA Health journey has enriched my strategic thinking, enhanced my methodological expertise, and provided a vibrant platform to connect with other health leaders around the world.
With a phenomenon of interest focused on improving access to medical innovations in underserved regions, this programme is a vital step toward fulfilling my aspiration of becoming a global health leader, one who shapes policy, drives innovation, and ensures no community is left behind."
