On 23 July we hosted our Health Executives in Residence (HEiRS) and Industry Mentors for a morning of connection, collaboration, and insight over breakfast.
This celebratory event recognised the positive impact of their engagement with the GBSH community, and was also attended by some of our students.
Our founding Director, Prof. Nora Colton, gave a welcome address before moderating a panel session with panellists Dr Susanne Gaube, Prof. Neha Batura and Dr Clara Aranda, who discussed the NHS 10-year plan from the perspectives of human factors, value-based care and digital inclusion.
Different global examples were presented to provide examples of how the different proposals in the plans could be moving forwards, but challenges were discussed on the scalability of the proposals (e.g. political factors, AI usage and trust, integrated care and the integration of digital solutions, and barriers to connectivity and usage of digital health tools).
Queli Costa (MSc Digital Health and Entrepreneurship student) provided a personal account of her experience as a Dentist who is also now a tech entrepreneur. She highlighted the role of her academic studies at GBSH and the support from industry mentors in her journey. From having curiosity about how things could be done better in her own practice, she’s now looking to develop solutions that can transform dentistry and the experience of patients.
As we look ahead to the new academic year, we will continue to engage with HEiRs and Industry Mentors and hope to provide further opportunities to help bridge the gap between industry and education for our students at GBSH.
