The culmination of a six-month long project came to fruition for UCL MBA Health students as they delivered their final Global Health Challenge presentations. This event saw students present to their peers and academic faculty on a solution to a healthcare issue in countries as diverse as India, Chile, and UAE.
The Global Health Challenge is a capstone project of the UCL MBA Health, designed to integrate the full spectrum of business and health knowledge acquired throughout the programme. Students collaborated in diverse, cross-functional teams to address complex health challenges, applying strategic, financial and leadership tools to develop actionable, evidence-based solutions.
This year’s cohort conducted fieldwork in January across three continents: three teams travelled to the United Arab Emirates, two to India, and one to Chile. Their projects ranged from a comparative policy analysis of UK and UAE health tourism to a systematic review exploring the trust dynamics within healthcare Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in the Delhi NCR region.
Following the presentations, students gathered in the Management Education Suite at UCL East for a networking reception with alumni, reinforcing the strong professional community fostered by the Global Business School for Health (GBSH). The alumni benefited from a workshop on self-branding delivered by Professor Shafi Ahmed.
The evening continued with a keynote address by Dr Jutta Skau, Prevention Product Creator at Novo Nordisk’s Transformational Prevention Unit. In her talk, “Shaping the Future of Preventative Care – What Can Be Your Role?”, Dr Skau emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative thinking in tackling cardiometabolic diseases. Drawing on her extensive experience in public health and child nutrition, she inspired students to challenge the status quo and become catalysts for change in global health.
From collaborative presentations to thought-provoking discussions and entrepreneurial pitches, the day was a celebration of connection, innovation and impact - hallmarks of the UCL Health MBA experience.
