EDI Funding opportunity: Improving Research Culture
30 September 2024
We are offering an exciting opportunity to apply for a small grant to fund EDI initiatives in the area of improving research culture.
Please note the deadline for applications is 31 October 2024.
Following the success of this initiative last year, the Faculty are again offering this exciting opportunity to apply for a small grant to fund EDI initiatives in the area of improving research culture.
Do you have ideas for an EDI initiative but need the funding to make it a success?
The grant can be used in a variety of ways (aligned with UCL’s spending policies), for example, to purchase resources, to provide refreshments for an event, as prizes for an award or to pay for staff time.
- Please discuss your planned initiative with your local EDI leads before applying to ensure there is no duplication of effort.
- Criteria for shortlisting are included on the application form.
- Applications can be for any amount up to £500.
- Staff (including Professional Services staff) and/or students can apply.
- If the grant is to include funding of staff, this can be arranged in 2 ways:
- Through Unitemps (for current staff or students or external temporary staff). Unitemps will perform compulsory right to work checks as well as ensure compliance with student’s visa requirements.
- By an honorarium paid through MyHR (for current staff).
- Winners will be notified by early December 2024; funding to be spent by 30 June 2025.
You may like to put time in team calendars to work on this either side of the summer holiday season to be ready for the October deadline.
The funding is provided by Research Culture, part of Office of the Vice-Provost (Research Innovation & Global Engagement).
For details of projects awarded last year, please see announcement of results.
To apply, please email application form to Jack Milburn by 31 October 2024.
