#IsolympicsPopHealth: Game 4

20 May 2020

We welcome you to join us and compete in Game 4 of our Isolympic Games, Crazy Golf.

Join us for the Game 2 of the Isolympics Games

As our researchers tackle the challenges of the day, we hope this will provide some entertainment and light relief while we all adapt to the new normal.

How can I take part?

You don’t have to be a keen golfer to take part in this one. All you need is a rolled-up piece of paper, a broom, a mug/bin/bucket to aim for, plus obstacles for your course. Show us your creative flair and build your crazy golf course from household objects – chairs, utensils, toilet rolls – let your imagination run wild! Points will be awarded for the craziest course.

All of the Games are intended to be played indoors, but we hope this will be an opportunity to engage virtually with others, and in-person with those you co-habit with. Please observe government guidelines at all times wherever you are in the world.

Prizes

The Games will be announced regularly via our Twitter account and via email. We are initially planning to run up to eight Games in total. The champion will be chosen by the Faculty and DM’d for details.

The weekly prize will be a £50 voucher to assist with entertainment while in isolation. Anyone is welcome to take part but prize winners must be a current UCL Population Health Sciences student.

Game 4: Crazy Golf

Equipment: One A4 piece of paper turned into paper ball. One broomstick/longish device for putting. Space to create crazy golf course. One target. Obstacles (of your choice) for your course.

Explanation, Rules and Judging: Take one A4 piece of paper and create your golf ball. The broomstick or equivalent is your club. Putt your golf ball into the target (a defined area, bucket, mug or bin).

Points awarded for furthest distance and craziest course. Weighting is heaviest toward craziest course. The course can be solely inside or outside or a combination. Outside should only be considered by those able to do so while following current government advice.

Send us your video clip

Simply submit the clip of your Crazy Golf putt and course to the FPHS Twitter account @UCLPopHealthSci with the hashtag #IsolympicsPopHealth by Sunday 31 May. We will review and select our favourite who will be crowned Isolympic Champion for the week!

Please note that this competition is intended to be a bit of fun. Scoring is hypothetical, the winner will be based on our subjective opinion, but the prize is very real (if an electronic voucher for streaming entertainment online counts as ‘real’).
