Masterclass: Simulation studies
22 January 2019
On 22 January 2019 the Network for Applied Statisticians in Health (NASH) hosted a Masterclass on simulation studies
Simulation studies are an invaluable tool for statistical research. They help us to understand the properties of statistical methods and to compare different methods. To perform a meaningful simulation study, careful thought must be put into planning, coding, analysis, presentation and interpretation. Unfortunately, simulation studies are frequently planned poorly and reported woefully.
In this Masterclass on simulation studies Tim Morris provided an overview to help participants to understand how simulation studies work, to critique published simulation studies and to designing one yourself.
