I took part in the medical student abstract competition whereby I submitted my abstract to the clinical pharmacology department at UCL. After an initial local competition at UCL, I was selected to proceed to the national competition, with winners from 8 other medical schools across the UK. The BPS then selected the top 5 entries to present at Pharmacology 2018, in front of a panel of esteemed figures in the field of Clinical Pharmacology. The judges selected the winner based on the best presentation of the afternoon and I was awarded £250!  Presenting at Pharmacology 2018 was an unforgettable experience. It felt surreal to share my research with pioneers in clinical pharmacology!Participating in and winning this national competition is an opportunity I would never have thought possible. I am so grateful to Professor Lucie Clapp and her incredible team for nurturing my love for research and pharmacology, as well as the UCL Clinical Pharmacology department for providing medical students with a glimpse of what this spectacular specialty offers.Raeesa Patel, Year 5 Medical Student
