The aim of this project is to develop new cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR)
technologies that will enable children with heart disease to be imaged rapidly and
without breath-holds. This would change our current practice and harness the full
potential of CMR in paediatric heart disease. Specifically, we will combine accelerated
acquisition methodologies with machine learning based reconstruction to create high
resolution real-time CMR techniques that can be performed during free breathing. We
will also clinically validate these new technologies in a large patient group to ensure
translation into the clinical environment.
