Scholarships and bursaries are available to students applying for our Institute for Global Health courses.
Institute for Global Health Postgraduate Bursaries
Open to all IGH MSc applicants
We are offering MSc Postgraduate Bursaries of £2,000 each. The award amount will be deducted from the cost of fees.
Eligibility
IGH MSc Postgraduate Bursaries are available to UK and Overseas applicants who have an unconditional or conditional offer to study the MSc in Global Health and Development, MSc Health Economics and Decision Science, MSc Applied Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and MSc Global Mental Health full time, part time or modular/flexible, for entry in September 2026.
Selection criteria
The criteria for awarding the scholarship is financial need.
Please submit this application form to igh.scholarships@ucl.ac.uk by 9am on 26 June 2026. Successful applicants will be notified in August 2026.

African Graduate Scholarship

We are pleased to announce that this year we are again able to offer the African Graduate Scholarship for 2025-26 applicants.

Scholarship
The scholarships exist to support African nationals with a high-quality academic and professional background who would not be able to study at UCL without financial assistance. The Scholarship is a one-off award for the academic year September-September to study at the UCL Institute for Global Health on the MSc Global Health and Development programme.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- The candidate must be an African national and a permanent resident of an African nation at the time of application. The candidate must have made an application and been accepted with an unconditional offer to UCL to study the MSc in Global Health and Development full time.
- The scheme offers a substantial scholarship towards UCL tuition fees, accommodation and some living costs. The candidate must also be able to provide evidence that they have secured other sources of funding for travelling to and from the UK.

Office of Health Economics – Graduate School Fellowship

The Office of Health Economics (OHE) is the world’s oldest independent health economics research organisation and a global thought leader and publisher in the economics of health, health care, and life sciences.
We are proud to partner with the OHE to offer a fellowship that allows candidates to study Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) part-time at UCL (starting September 2026) while gaining work experience at OHE.
Eligibility
The fellowship is available to Home students who will undertake the MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science on a part-time basis (two-year duration), starting in September 2026.
Selection Criteria and Application
- Selection will be based on merit.
- Interested candidates must first be accepted onto the MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science at UCL. See how to apply.
- After acceptance, candidates should send a cover letter (statement of purpose) to OHE at mjofre-bonet@ohe.org.
- Applications must be submitted by 30 April 2026.
- When applying to the HEDS programme, clearly indicate in your cover letter that you intend to apply for the OHE fellowship.
Benefits
- Tuition fees for two years of part-time study on the MSc Health Economics and Decision Science (at the Home rate).
- A monthly stipend of £1,600 during term time.
- Fellows will spend two days per week at UCL for coursework and three days per week at OHE, working on tasks related to their MSc studies and contributing to other OHE projects, gaining valuable research experience.
- Upon successful completion of the MSc, graduates will be offered a one-year full-time position at OHE and may be considered for a permanent role.
- Fellows will:
- Gain relevant research experience
- Participate in seminars and workshops at UCL and the OHE
- Receive co-supervision for their MSc dissertation
- Further develop their skills and gain up to one year of additional work experience after graduation.

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme

This is a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (with funding from the Department for International Development (DFID), and UK universities, to support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the United Kingdom.
The aim of the scheme is to assist students from developing Commonwealth countries who are of excellent academic calibre but for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to afford to study in the United Kingdom. The scheme allows them to benefit from postgraduate study at a university in the United Kingdom which will help them to contribute toward the development of their home countries.
Applicants to the MSc Global Health and Development programme who are from developing Commonwealth countries are eligible to apply for the academic year 2026/2027.
