UCL Centre for Climate Change, Migration, Conflict and Health
We explore the critical intersections between health, climate change, migration, and conflict—generating evidence to inform policy, humanitarian response, and global health strategies.
About the Centre
The UCL Centre for Climate Change, Migration, Conflict and Health investigates how health is shaped by the complex and interlinked challenges of climate change, migration, and conflict. Our work informs policy and humanitarian responses to disasters and emergencies, with a focus on generating actionable evidence for global health.
Our current research explores the health impacts of climate change in regions such as the Arctic and small island states, the inclusion of people with disabilities in disaster risk reduction, and the intersection of climate change, migration, and conflict in border zones. We also develop indicators to monitor climate-related health risks, evaluate the use of cash transfers to reduce acute malnutrition in emergencies, and apply longitudinal nutrition and health surveillance systems to improve epidemiological understanding and response in humanitarian settings.
Strategic Priorities
- Evidence & Insight: Build knowledge on the health impacts of climate change, migration, and conflict, and their complex interactions.
- Policy & Practice: Design and evaluate effective responses to protect health in disaster and emergency settings.
- Education & Training: Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching through specialised modules, international training programmes, and research opportunities for PhD and postdoctoral students.
