Engagement and Partner Involvement
We work with stakeholders to ensure research can be translated into health gains and knowledge transfer.
At the Institute for Global Health, we believe that research should lead to real-world impact. Our academics work closely with communities, health care providers, policymakers and others to ensure our research is of the highest quality.
Knowledge Transfer in Action
Our academics provides expert advice to:
- Governments. Our research informs health policies and practices across the world, in both high-income and low-middle income countries.
- Non-Government Organisations and International Agencies. Partnering with UNICEF, WHO, and others, we co-design and co-evaluate interventions and strategies to improve health outcomes.
- Universities and Think Tanks. Contributing to educational content and global research agendas.
How We Engage
We approach engagement and stakeholder inclusion through five key pathways:
- Co-Creating Research. We involve communities, patient groups, policy makers from the earliest discussions of ideas through every stage of the research cycle including designing and evaluating health interventions through to dissemination.
- Informing Policy. The evidence we generate informs decision-making in Ministries of Health in Asia, Africa and LMIC settings and global guideline bodies such as the World Health Organization, the UK government and UK public health bodies.
- Making Science Accessible. Through public lectures, blogs, and symposia, we help people understand the science behind global health challenges.
- Raising Awareness of Health Issues. From antibiotic resistance to climate change to the control of non-communicable conditions, we host events and disseminate publications to inform and inspire action.
- Sharing Our Research. We actively share the results of our research with patients, communities, and policymakers. Through presentations, community events, and global conferences, we also engage students, think tanks, and international institutions to spark dialogue, inspire collaboration, and drive meaningful change.
