People and Organisation Management in Healthcare
The People and Organisation Management in Healthcare (POMH) research cluster explores how to strengthen healthcare leadership, workforce and culture through evidence-based, interdisciplinary research.
The work of this research cluster at the UCL Global Business School for Health addresses the complex and evolving challenges of optimising the management of people, teams, and organisations in healthcare. In the context of workforce shortages, emerging technologies, increasing care complexity, and the demand for more effective inter-professional collaboration. POMH contributes to evidence-based insights on critical issues such as workforce recruitment and retention, leadership, organisational culture, and change management — all integral to delivering high-quality, patient-centred and sustainable healthcare.
POMH integrates a range of perspectives from human resource management, organisational theory and behaviour, innovation, strategy, entrepreneurship and related fields. We advance theoretical knowledge of how people and systems interact, conduct empirical research across diverse healthcare contexts, and translate findings into actionable strategies for healthcare leaders, clinicians, and policymakers. Through this work, we aim to strengthen decision-making and management capability, foster inclusive organisational environments, and help healthcare institutions adapt and thrive in the face of rapid change.
