Death, dying and grief; an interdisciplinary roundtable
This roundtable is the first event in a series of meetings to build an interdisciplinary group on death, dying, and grief at UCL.
Come along on 29 January to hear about the vision of a new interdisciplinary group, connect with colleagues, and help shape plans to better understand and transform experiences of death and dying.
Death, dying, and grief are universal events, shaped by cultural, legal, clinical, religious, environmental, and economic factors.
The Lancet Commission on the Value of Death explored contemporary death and dying through a complex systems lens and called for an interdisciplinary response to understand and transform these systems and improve experiences. The assisted dying debate has shone a further light on the need for wide cross-sectoral discussions of these issues.
Hosted by Libby Sallnow from the UCL Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Department and UCL Health of the Public, we hope this group will serve as a foundation for an important body of work, building on the themes from the Lancet Commission and exploring these issues from a diverse range of perspectives.
