Immigrants and their descendants in the UK are disproportionately affected by housing insecurity. Evidence shows that housing tenure varies considerably by ethnicity. Studies that have analysed ethnic differences, have not distinguished between migrant generations making it hard to assess housing experiences. Additionally, owing to a dearth of longitudinal data, evidence on housing variation and sociodemographic inequalities is unknown. Using the ONS Longitudinal Study (ONS LS) and longitudinal methods this research will map ethnic housing inequalities and variation to improve understanding of housing markets providing public benefits, including informing targeted support/policies, improving targets and assessment of need.
