The research project aims:
1. To investigate the changing patterns of ethnic inequalities in health for ethnic minority older people in the UK from 1994 - 2014
2. To examine the changing patterns of ethnic inequalities in health life expectancy for older people England and Wales from 1971 - 2011
3. To work with academic and non-academic partners to successfully disseminate this work to beneficiaries of the research project
The project will answer the following four research questions:
1. Have ethnic inequalities in health for ethnic minority older people increased, decreased, or remained unchanged over time?
2. What are the main drivers of ethnic health inequalities in later life and changes in this over time?
3. How has healthy life expectancy (HLE) for older ethnic minority groups in England and Wales changed over time compared to the White British population?
4. What are the cumulative life course influences that explain ethnic inequalities in HLE?
