EC3R: Establishing Capacity, Connection and Collaboration for Early Career Researchers working at the intersection of the Arts, Humanities, and Health.

Over the last decade there has been a rapid increase in interdisciplinary research that cuts across the arts, humanities, and health addressing a range of critical societal issues. However, due to the highly interdisciplinary and intersectoral nature of this research, it can be challenging for early career researchers (ECRs) to navigate this landscape.

Supporting ECRs

This project aims to support ECRs to do this through three workstreams, providing opportunities for ECRs to:

1. Build capacity to deliver timely research; 
2. Connect over shared research priorities, engage in reflective dialogue, and build networks; and 
3. Collaborate on addressing cross-cutting research gaps.

Across these three workstreams, we will also particularly focus on four key themes to support ECRs with developing innovative research in the future:

1. Optimizing interdisciplinary ways of working whilst also being sensitive to theoretical and methodological understandings developed within different contexts.
2. Collaborating to further unpack the complexity of the arts and humanities within this space.
3. Taking a critical approach and being open to new ways of working and thinking.
4. Actively seeking to identify gaps within our current knowledge, working together across disciplines and with those who have lived experience to collaborate on co-creating priorities for future research.

This project is funded by the University College London–University of Toronto (UoT) Emerging Global Talents fund and is led as part of the Arts Health Early Career Research Network (UCL) and in partnership with the Arts Play Health Community (University of Edinburgh).
