The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Initiative consists of a Steering Committee, the Race Equity Group and a number of Focus Groups. The Steering Committee has oversight of EDI work at GOS ICH and is responsible for preparing and submitting the Institute’s Athena Swan application and for implementing the Athena Swan Action Plan. The remit of the Focus Groups is to address issues that have been prioritised by staff and students at GOS ICH and to represent and ‘voice’ the needs of the different sections of the ICH community. The Focus Groups are open to all staff and students based at GOS ICH. We hope you will make use of the Focus Groups to voice any concerns you may have or to bring positive ideas for change to the attention of the EDI Steering Committee. Please see list below of Focus Groups at ICH:
- Allied Health Professionals in Academia
- Data
- Disability Visibility
- Early Career Researchers (ECR)
- Mentoring
- Parents and Carers
- Professional Services Staff (PSS)
- Public Engagement
- Wellbeing
The EDI Committee is also responsible for a number of initiatives, such as the Multifaith Prayer and Wellbeing Quiet Rooms, Project Period (offering free period products to staff in need), the Cygnet Room (a room for new and expectant mothers) and the GOS ICH Work Experience Programme (an outreach programme for 16-18 year olds interested in careers in biomedical research).
Staff can visit our new SharePoint pages for more information of EDI at GOS ICH.
