About this course
This module is a core first year module for students on the mixed methods stream of the BSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics programme, it cannot be taken by external students.
This course will make students engage with a number of modern classics in political analysis. After introducing questions surrounding concept formation, theorizing, and analytical strategies, the course will engage with a selection of core books in the political science discipline.
By the end of the course, students should have attained:
- A clear grasp of the challenges in concept formation, theory building, and analytical strategies;
- Knowledge of some of the major works in political science and international relations.
- An awareness of different research designs and approaches to political analysis.
