Dom is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science, exploring response strategies employed by civil society groups experiencing restrictions by states at the national level. He holds a BA in Politics and Sociology and an MA in Terrorism, Insurgency and Security from the University of Leeds.
Dom has a background in international civil society and currently works for the global civil society alliance, CIVICUS. While at CIVICUS, Dom has focussed on researching issues facing civil society and documenting restrictions on civic activism around the world. He was instrumental in the design and launch the CIVICUS Monitor, a dynamic online portal that tracks the conditions for civil society in 196 countries. Through his work on the CIVICUS Monitor, Dom currently oversees research on restrictions to civil society in South and South-East Asia, MENA and the Western Balkans.
