PhD Title:

The role of ethics in policy analysis.

Short Abstract:

Every public policy pursues given aims or goals. These goals reflect moral values, either directly or indirectly. Too often the goals that should be sought in a given policy area are merely assumed, and the values that underlie these goals are not even made explicit. There has long been the diagnosis that ethical (and not only economic) considerations should play a more influential role in public policy design, especially in policy analysis. However, there is a lack of proposals on how to systematically integrate these ethical aspects as part of an analytical framework. This project aims to contribute to such integration.
