Jay is a PhD candidate at UCL’s Department of Political Science (2017 - Present)
Biography:
Jay is a part-time PhD candidate at UCL’s Department of Political Science (2017 - ). She holds an MSc in Democracy and Comparative Politics from UCL and an MSc in Media & Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
In addition to her PhD research, Jay works with organisations across a range of sectors on corporate planning, governance, and change programmes. She has also supported UK Higher Education institutions on a wide range of public engagement activities and was previously a Lecturer at Syracuse University (London). Jay is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Open University’s Faculty of Business & Law, the IoD's Centre for Corporate Governance Working Group on Stakeholder Governance, and the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). She is a Chartered Director and Fellow of the Institute of Directors (IoD); a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and a former President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).
PhD Title:
The New Governance of Health and Social Care in England: A Democratic Accountability Promise.
Short Abstract:
Jay’s research, under the supervision of Prof. David Coen and Dr. Colin Provost, explores the relationship between democratic accountability and modern state governance in a highly salient area of public policy – health and social care in England, specifically Integrated Care Systems. The research design is based on a case study methodology using document analysis, process tracing and semi-structured interviews.
