Prof Tom Pegram
Biography
I am Professor of Global Politics at the Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy, UCL, where I am also the Director of the UCL Global Governance Institute. I have held research fellowships at various universities, including University of Queensland, University of Gothenburg, New York University and Harvard University Law Schools. I hold a DPhil in Politics from Nuffield College, University of Oxford.
Research
My research interests include the theoretical and empirical study of global politics (international relations (IR)/global governance), global policy implementation, as well as complex system dynamics, with particular expertise in the substantive domains of human rights, climate change and global risk. I have published in various IR journals, including International Organization, American Journal of International Law (AJIL), and European Journal of International Relations, among others. The AJIL article received the International Studies Association’s Diplomatic Studies Section Best Article Award 2018. I have received external research funding from the EU Horizon 2020 scheme, the British Academy and the Nuffield Foundation. I have recently completed a major research project on global politics and complex system dynamics and my most recent book is Explaining Transformative Change in ASEAN and EU Climate Policy: Multilevel Problems, Policies and Politics (published with Cambridge University Press and co-authored with Charan Bal, David Coen, Julia Kreienkamp and Paramitaningrum).
