Dean’s List 2023/24. Congratulations to our top performing students!
13 December 2024
We are happy to announce that 24 students from our department have earned a spot on the Dean's List for the highest achievers of the 2023-24 academic year!
The Dean’s List is a way of recognising the success of students who have enjoyed exceptional academic success within the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences, and is published each academic year. Typically, this recognition is reserved for the top 5% of the graduating class who meet the threshold criteria.
It is a fantastic achievement to feature on this list. Congratulations to all of you. We are incredibly proud of all of our students, and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future!

Dean's List Award Criteria
Each year, the Department of Political Science honours its most exceptional students by nominating a select group for the prestigious Dean’s List.
For undergraduate programmes, candidates must achieve an overall First-Class average with no module marks below 60.00 across their final two years (or Years 2 and 4 for those studying abroad). Postgraduate nominees must secure an overall distinction with no marks below 60.00.
Given UCL’s competitive environment and the consistently high performance of our students, not all those who meet the baseline criteria can be included. As a result, the Department may apply additional measures to identify the very best candidates for this distinguished recognition.
Dissertation Prize
In addition, we want to give a big congratulations to Elena Massacesi and Tasha Chan Yi Jing on being awarded the dissertation prizes for BSc Politics and International Relations and BSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics respectively. Their dissertation titles are:
- Massacesi, Elena (2024) Do some Paper Promises Burn Less than Others? An empirical study of how European Companies' Sustainability Strategies Link to their Emissions. UCL undergraduate dissertation.
- Chan Yi Jing, Tasha (2024) Testing the Terror Management Theory in COVID-19: Did death anxiety increase anti-immigration sentiment. UCL undergraduate dissertation.
