Prof Fikfak will deliver her inaugural lecture on the topic of "Hope in Human Rights and International Law". The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.

Recent developments across the world have led politicians to declare the end of globalisation, pull out of commitments to human rights and international law, and have more generally caused a crisis of international and domestic (judicial) institutions. In this era of protectionism, nationalism, and authoritarianism, what hope is there for international law and human rights?

In this lecture, Professor Fikfak will reflect on what international law and human rights have already achieved to maintain peace and security and protect the world’s most vulnerable, and will underline how important they are as tools of hope.
