Careers Week: A Day in the Life of a Political Risk Analyst

Have you heard of political risk analysts and wondered what they do? Have you always dreamed of becoming a political risk analyst and want to see if it’s for you? Have you never heard of political risk consulting, but now you are curious? Then join us for a special case study workshop designed and run by Oksana Antonenko and Charles Hecker of Control Risks, to introduce you to how to approach a challenge that you might be set in a day in the life of a political risk analyst. Please note that priority for this workshop will be given to current MA/MSc students and 2019-2020 alumni and places are limited to 50.

Charles Hecker
Charles Hecker is a partner at Control Risks. Charles has worked there for more than 20 years; eight of those were spent as the managing partner of the company’s Moscow office. He has an undergraduate degree in Soviet Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree from the Russian Research Center, now called the Davis Center, at Harvard University.
Oksana Antonenko
Oksana Antonenko is a Director at the EMEA Global Risk Analysis Team. Her work focuses on advising clients on political risk, geopolitical and political economy trends in Europe and Eurasia. Prior to Joining Control Risks in 2018, Oksana was a Senior Political Counsellor at the European bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Head of Russia and Eurasia Programme at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Oksana is currently a Global Fellow at the Kennan Institute in the United States. Oksana is a graduate of Harvard University, John F Kennedy School of Government (Public Policy) and Moscow State University (Political Economy). She was a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Global Affairs at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
