Celebrating culture, freedom, and belonging
24 June 2026
Last night, we welcomed guests from across politics, civil society, philanthropy, the visual and performing arts for an evening reception celebrating culture, freedom and belonging.
At a moment when public debate can feel increasingly fragmented, it is especially powerful to come together to explore how to tell stories that connect, rather than divide, and how we can create a stronger sense of shared belonging.

Taking place in the stunningly beautiful new V&A East Museum (Victoria and Albert Museum), overlooking the Olympic Park, we heard from some of the UK’s most celebrated innovators in the arts, including Maxine Thomas-Asante FRSA, Josie Rourke, Marya Bangee, and Yassmin Abdel-Magied.

From the role of storytelling in shaping public attitudes, to how we expand whose stories are told and heard, the conversation was a powerful reminder of culture’s role in shaping the kind of society we want to live in.
