Parents and Neonatal Decisions

A research study exploring some aspects of care that critically ill babies and their parents receive on the neonatal unit.

The Parents and Neonatal Decisions Study is a research study exploring some aspects of the care that critically ill babies and their parents receive on the neonatal unit. In particular, we focus on critical care decision making for infants and palliative care implementation and family support.

This study is led by a multidisciplinary team from University College London, Homerton Hospital and York University, in collaboration with Bliss, the special care baby charity and Sands (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) supporting the research from a parent’s perspective.

This website provides details of the study and is designed for parents and healthcare professionals.

The research was initially supported by the NIHR through a Programme Development Grant and is now being supported by Sands. It has received ethical approval from the Research Ethics Committee for City and East.
