2016 UCL Lancet Lecture by Ms Christiana Figueres

Action on climate change for a healthier world - putting the Paris Agreement into practice

The 2015 Paris agreement on climate change was an historic step for the world in tackling the biggest global threat facing the 21st century. At the 2016 UCL Lancet lecture, former UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres, the senior official responsible for steering the Paris Agreement to a successful conclusion, will speak on health and climate change and the opportunity for the Agreement to improve global health.

This event will also launch 'The Lancet Countdown to 2030 - Tracking progress on health and climate change'. This new independent research collaboration will build on the work of the UCL-led 2015 Lancet Commission, and track a world that is responding to climate change, demonstrating the immense health benefits this brings.

The UCL Lancet lecture is an annual global health event open to the public, co-hosted by UCL Grand Challenges, UCL Institute for Global Health, and The Lancet.
