Fantasy Frontbench Debates: Should climate change be the UK’s top policy priority?

The inaugural Fantasy Frontbench Debate marks the official launch of the partnership between UCL Public Policy - UCL’s flagship initiative to build engagement between researchers and policymakers - and the not-for-profit digital democracy service Fantasy Frontbench, which aims to engage people in the process of politics and policy-making. A live panel will address the question: Should climate change be the UK's top policy priority?

Speakers: Natalie Bennett (Former Leader, Green Party) Emily Shuckburgh (British Antarctic Survey) Mark Maslin (Earth System Scientist and Director of the London NERC DTP) Ahir Shah (Comedian)

The debate will be chaired by Helen Czerski, Physicist, Oceanographer and Broadcaster, co-chaired by a youth representative and feature a number of high-profile speakers including Natalie Bennett, former leader of the Green Party, Ahir Shah political satirist and Edinburgh Comedy Award 'Best Show' 2017 nominee, Prof. Mark Maslin, UCL academic and author of 'Climate Change: A Very Short Introduction' and Dr. Emily Shuckburgh, deputy head of the Polar Oceans Team at the British Antarctic Survey and co-author of 'Climate Change (A Ladybird Expert Book)'.
