An Observer article discusses the mission of the Martian rover Curiosity, in its attempt to reveal the whether Mars is, or was, capable of supporting life, while Dr Giovanna Tinetti (UCL Physics & Astronomy/CPS) talks about EChO (the Exoplanet Characterisation Observatory), a proposed European Space Agency mission to look for signatures of life in exoplanets: "I wouldn't have thought it possible a decade ago but I would now say it was an evens bet that we detect the presence of life outside our solar system before we find life inside it," she said. Read: The Observer.
