IPLS Python for Biologists Workshop

22 October 2018, 9:00 am–4:00 pm

In this day and age, academic research of almost any subject cannot go without the use of mathematical modelling techniques, in the form of writing your own code, or adapting code written by other people. Brought to you by Dr Xiaofan Li and his team at EdBridge UK, the Python Day Workshop aims to equip you with a solid understanding of basic coding and computational skills, in the lingua franca of scientific computing – Python. No prior coding experiences required, bring a laptop and an open mind – satisfaction guaranteed.

Dr Xiaofan Li has had over a decade’s experience in scientific computation and mathematical modelling. Trained as a biologist, he obtained his PhD at UCL from what is now the Francis Crick Institute. Dr Li has since been working as a derivatives quant in a number of investment banks and hedge funds, with a short but exciting stint as a computer science teacher at a prestigious girls’ school. Dr Li founded EdBridge with the aim of spreading the knowledge & power of computational intelligence to everyone.
