A number of research groups here at UCL are working with Francis Crick Institute to establish a Laboratory for Biological Making. The goal of the lab will be to create a space where individual researchers can come together to share equipment, techniques, ideas, skills and take training classes.

In preparation for setting up the lab (anticipated to be 2016 when the new Francis Crick Institute building opens), we thought it would be a good idea to gather groups interested in biological making to discuss how they have used techniques such as microfabrication and micropatterning in their research and what their future plans and interests are. To this end, we are organising an afternoon meeting on 23 June to discuss these ideas and to meet one another.  In addition to research groups at UCL and Francis Crick Institute, we have invited Dr Matthieu Piel from Institut Curie in Paris to discuss how his group has used micro-fabrication in their research.
