Research summary

My research focuses in the areas of Classical German Philosophy (esp. Fichte), the nature of Free Will, and various questions in the philosophy of religion and philosophical theology (the nature of God, faith and reason, moral arguments for God's existence, Lutheran approaches to theology).

Teaching summary

In 2019/20 I am teaching four modules. 

In term 1:

 PHIL0149: Kant - an introductory module to Kant, focusing on his major work, the Critique of Pure Reason

PHIL0057: Topics in German Idealism - an overview of the major German Idealists (Fichte, Schelling, Hegel) looking at the ways in which they go beyond Kant.

In term 2:

PHIL065: Philosophy of Art - a module focusing on the aesthetics and art theories of the German Idealists and those philosophically close to them (Kant, Schiller, Schelling, Schopenhauer, Hegel).

PHIL0097: Graduate Studies in Kant - an advanced Kant module which this year is focusing on topics in Kant's philosophy of religion.
