The School of Pharmacy Postdoc Day took place on the Friday 22nd June and was well attended with delegates coming from within the School and external organisations.
The day opened with an invigorating talk from Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham, who shared her experiences in transitioning from PhD into academia. This was followed by several talks from speakers from various backgrounds ranging from consultancy, industry, to regulatory with talk from a special speaker Dr Claire Thompson, Director and co-founder of Agility Health Tech and deputy chief scientist for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, who opened the non-academic careers session with a talk "Industrial insights- a personal perspective".
Feedback from attendees was really positive, with postdoctoral researchers having valuable networking opportunities with advisors, current PhD students and other fellow researchers. The day ended with a prize giving event, where Dr Rose Richardson won the best oral presentation for the day, for her work on “Temporal gene expression profiling during zebrafish optic fissure closure”, and Dr Fanny Joubert won best image award for (Hybrid nanoparticles).
